First sesh with my BRAND NEW BOARD!!! Woo-hoo!
I worked out that my Protoy is the first bit of kitesurf kit EVER that I've bought brand new, not s/h.

Awake at 6.30 (on a Sunday???) just gagging for it... hit the beach at 8, it was blowing 15kts and sunny - just perfect! So I rigged up the 11 and tried out the new lines I bought - a brand new set from the Sonic 2.

Thankfully the bar and lines were already set up, so for the first time I could alter the trim mid-flight. As I was about to set off, a kindly windsurfer alerted me to the advancing black sky... 'Oh, I'll get a quick one in before that gets here' I thought. Wrong. The squall hit and I realised I couldn't physically reach the depower system without powering up the kite first (pulling in on the bar to reach it). So I had to eject, but at least that worked OK. Managed to get it all under control, then a vicious hail storm hit forcing us all to take cover under the kites.

That passed, packed up the 11m but one of the new lines had jammed with the force of the eject... friendly James from local shop Surface 2 Air sorted that out for me on the beach.

After the dead patch, it picked up to about 15-20 so took out the 8m. The Protoy is stonking, but sadly the wind was insufficient and my skill level too low to give it a good workout. Eventually the wind dropped causing a few of us to have a walk of shame.

Oh, and I was a 'victim' of Camber Rage... some mad guy shouting obscenities at me despite the fact I was miles away from him AND I was the one on the port tack. 25 kiters in a small section of beach I guess this is bound to happen... I bet he came from London! ;-)

The board's great... def something I shall grow into, not grow out of. Spent 5 hours on the beach, a record for February!
